Sat 9th May – Japanse Style Ukiyo-e Art in Acrylics
Tutor: Colin Ross Jack Time: 10am – 4pm Cost: £55 pp
The style of ukiyo-e or ‘images of the floating world’ were created in the 18th-19th century as woodcuts for mass production by a number of artists, the best known of whom are probably Hokusai and Hiroshige. These works were a huge influence on 19th western painters like Van Gogh, Whistler & Monet. This workshop will enable students to produce a painting in the style of the ukiyo-e woodcuts. Participants may paint an actual Japanese subject, or use the style for any subject they like. Suitable for all abilities.
