Sat 7th May – Japanese Style Art in Acrylics
Tutor: Colin Ross Jack Time: 10am – 4pm Cost: £65 pp
The style of ukiyo-e ‘images of the floating world’ were created in the 18th-19th century as woodcuts for mass production of prints by a number of artists. This workshop will enable students to produce a painting in the style of the ukiyo woodcuts. Unlike western art’s concentration on realism, the japanese style forgoes ‘realism’ and frees the artist to concentrate on pattern and line, using areas of pure flat colour and black outlines. Suitable for all abilities.
