Sat 19th June – Monotone Portrait in Oils
Tutor: Mike Skidmore Time: 10am – 4pm Cost: £65 pp
How to paint a monotone portrait using the wipe-off method in oils. This is a method favoured by Rembrandt, where we draw a basic portrait in pencil, then paint a dark transparent glaze over the whole canvas, and finally wipe out areas with a cloth and cotton buds. The end result is a monotone painting with dark shadows, contrasting mid-tones and strong highlights for an evocative and dramatic portrait. Suitable for all abilities.
